When You Have An Emissions Control System Leak

When you have an emissions control system leak on your car it is very important to have this malfunction repaired as soon as possible. If your emissions control system leaks and you ignore it, you will be adding to the pollution levels in the Earth’s atmosphere, locally and globally. You may believe that an emissions control system leak only affects your local region of the world but, on the contrary, this automotive failure does affect the earth on a global scale.

An emissions control system leak can be as simple as a loose or detached vacuum line or it may be as advanced as a computer malfunction. You may have a hole in, blockage of or cracked catalytic converter. Maybe you EGR or PCV valve is broken, loose, partially or completely detached. Your evaporative emissions control system may need repaired or replaced. It is even possible that an oxygen sensor on your exhaust may need replaced or your oxygen injection system is in need of repairs. The only way that you will know what the problem is or if there is a problem with your emissions control system is to have your car diagnosed for any possible problems on the recommended regular preventative maintenance schedule as instructed by the manufacturer of your automobile.

If you have an emissions control system leak caused by the vacuum controls related to your emissions control system then all you have to do is have a trained automotive repair professional trouble shoot your cars vacuum system. If you have an emissions control system leak of your catalytic converter or EGR valve, you can have any of these repairs performed simply by any certified and licensed automotive exhaust professional. If your PCV valve is broken or malfunctioning, any general automotive repair facility along with many oil change facilities can and will replace your PCV valve for you. If you have a broken or malfunctioning oxygen sensor, you will need to have your cars emissions control system leak caused by the failure of the oxygen sensor repaired by a facility that is licensed and certified by your cars manufacturer.

If you do not diagnose and repair any emissions control system leak on your car it can and normally will cause other parts and systems on your car to begin to malfunction and eventually fail on some level.
In summary, any emissions control system leak on your personal automobile is a very serious problem. You will need a professional diagnostics and repair appointment immediately for any emissions control system leak on your automobile.
